The article is a Blog, posted by Rachael on Social Justice League on April 26,2012. It
revolves around a simple idea, that is sometimes misinterpreted by people
according to the blogger: The aspects of social justice through
words. Rachael takes a side from the very beginning of the blog,
confirming eagerly that niceness isn’t even an important part in social
justice. Then, the blogger defined social justice as being the “Destruction of
systematic marginalization and privilege”, adding to that the fact that just
conduct must not be mistaken with respectfulness/courteousness. The author then goes as far as linking niceness with
evil, as further proof of its insignificance when paired with oppressive
comments.Rachael wasn’t finished with niceness here. She added that the
dominant classes could define “nice” and force it on the people down the “food
chain”, thus gaining power and undeserved respect.Furthermore, she highlighted
the difference between hurting someone’s feelings (being mean), and oppressing
someone (racism, homophobia…). Rachael concluded her blog with a motivational
ideology, and the ultimate goal, which is to take back the rights that have
been deprived from us by society.
Look at Moodle for your grade. 1. NEVER quote in a summary. 2. Your main idea is sentence 3 when it should be sentence 1. 3. The main idea doesn't fully reflect the text. 4. She doesn't link niceness with "evil" but says its not useful for the oppressed. 5. When you say "Furthermore, she highlighted..." you do a great job of reflecting the ideas of the text.
