Why being friendly does not mean you are any less terrible.

"The Revolution Will Not Be Polite: The Issue of Nice Versus Good"
Rachael
A Summary

In Rachael's post "The Revolution Will Not Be Polite: The Issue of Nice Versus Good" her discussion revolves around debunking the misconception that all actions considered 'nice' are also 'good' especially when considering social justice. The blogpost opens by criticizing the people's misinterpretation of 'nice' as 'good' and saying that being nice does not advocate social justice. The post goes on to explain what social justice is and what defines the privileged versus the under privileged. Rachael then elaborates by giving examples of how oppressors would use the guise of niceness to defend their claims in an attempt to show that they are not being unjust or unfair towards minorities when in fact their niceness does not take away from the fact that they are demeaning the rights of the unprivileged. Finally the post concludes by reiterating that being nice does not necessarily mean you are not an advocate of social injustice and furthermore that one can be good, fair and just without being a 'nice' person.

  1. Check Moodle for garde. Your Main Idea is wrong. Niceness doesn't reflect good. That is what Racheal said. The body is great. I believe you made a mistake in the Main Idea, I'll grade accordingly. The body can be improved by being more exact, but good ordering of her ideas.
