Brand Malala,

Anthony Jabbour,

English 203,

27th of September 2015,

1-Social perspective:
Carol Anne Grayson wrote this blog in 2013, to raise some eyebrows on the system that is manipulating all of our lives. In 2013, people were really interested by reading blogs and spread all of the news they are reading, and this will create rumors, protests and many things all around the world. She wants to say that Malala was being manipulated by the authorities in the UK but did not like to say their names and instead used the word “mentors” to characterize them “I doubt she fully realizes the extent to which she is being exploited by her new “mentors” in the UK”. Grayson would like to open the eyes of the people of our world, and as well, let us know that Malala’s fame is not for positive reasons; on the contrary, it has negative effects on the society, because the authorities take just one example to show to the world that they are ready to do everything for good reasons. But that is not true, because they only have one example to talk of, and they let many other people suffer in Pakistan for example. They manipulate the world and let them believe they are ready to help.
2-Emotional perspective:
In relation to the emotional side of the story, Grayson seems to adopt a mad and angry tone, much to her disappointment to the inequality between individuals. And the whole goal of her blog is to open up the eyes of people and let them realize that everyone should be treated equally. She seems revolted about the situation she is living in “Since the shooting of Malala, western politicians and media alike have seized upon a very profitable “alliance” with the young Pakistani schoolgirl”. With these quotations, we can see the level of dedication she is putting in spreading this blog, and opening the eyes of many people.
3-Rhetorical perspective:
Grayson writes this blog using mainly argumentation to raise awareness in the whole world. She is not talking a personal story; on the contrary, she is using a universal story by using her personal point of view and examples, which will then try to convince the readers about what she is saying. The arguments are hers and that is how she wants to spread her blog, by using valid arguments that will convince the people. The quotation “Malala the book, Malala the film, Malala the award nominee, Malala the portrait” (14) shows that Malala is not just a personal story, it’s much more than that, it’s a universal story that everyone talks about, and it’s with this example that she will show the deficiencies in the government.
4-Logical perspective:
In relation to the logical perspective, we can see that something is not right. According to Grayson, no one is fighting for human’s rights and gender equality the right way. As well, many intend to believe the politicians when they show one example of helping people, like is the case with Malala, but in reality, they just don’t care, they help just one person who fits the criteria they need so that they will be talked off as good person in society, while they don’t care about the situation of many other people suffering even more than Malala “don’t fit in a popular narrative, especially if victims of the states”. Grayson is using long exhaustive sentences to persuade the readers to take her side and unite so that all of them shout with one voice, and kick on a revolution. For the logical perspective, Grayson will then use logical arguments in relation to her emotions to let the readers open their eyes, and realize where they are living.
5-Ethical perspective:

For ethical purposes, we can say that Grayson defends human rights and gender equality, but the people who possess the power manipulate the people and let them believe that they fight for the sake of the good reasons, and they start shipping votes and votes, and then the majority of the population will follow the politicians they support with whatever they say. Grayson wants to put an end to the injustice we are living in, and the demagogy of the politicians who manipulate this world. The example of Malala does show the real problem our society encounters, because politicians use just one example to let the people believe what they want them to believe, but that I not at all for ethical reasons, because in reality, their only goal is shipping votes, and we must fight to put an end to this injustice and inequality between individuals.  As well, the fame she is getting is for the bad reasons, and this may affect many others in the same situation as Malala, and this will affect their mentality and their ethical life “we are now into the dangerous cult of celebrity”

1 comment:

  1. social: where is the intext citation, again too broad, specify and justify, better at the end
emotional: good justification, quoting is wrong
    rhetorical: great justification
logical: not strong, what are her conclusions about UK gender issues
    ethical: good
